The Dazu Rock Carvings, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site in southwest China's Chongqing, dates back from between the 9th and 13th centuries and largely features reliefs that have been carved into open rock faces. Comprised of 75 protected sites containing some 50,000 statues, the Dazu Rock Carvings are considered as outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
