China beat Philippines at Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

China's women's volleyball team beat the Philippines to secure their second group win at the 22nd Asian Women's Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on Thursday.

Team China encountered little resistance from their Thai opponents and ended the match in three sets, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-17.

China's Wu Mengjie scored a match-high 18 points from 15 attacks, 2 blocks and one ace, while Zhong Hui and Yang Hanyu added 10 points apiece for the winning team.

In the opening match, China swept past Hong Kong, China 25-12, 25-15, 25-6 on August 30.

Previously, Wu got a game-high 15 points, and Yang Hanyu contributed 14 points.

Running from August 30 to September 6, the championship features 14 teams divided into four groups. Each team faces every other team in their group once, with the top two teams from each preliminary round group advancing to the top eight classification round, forming two new groups of four.

Other than China, Group D features Kazakhstan, China's Hong Kong and the Philippines. China face Kazakhstan on Friday.
