China on Friday slammed Japan's claim that China is the only country that opposes its discharge of nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean, calling it a distortion of facts and deliberate dishonesty.
"In fact, the countries which have expressed support are exactly those who have witnessed the biggest drop in Japanese seafood imports," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.
China urges Japan to reflect on its wrongdoing and show repentance rather than pose as a victim and try to gain sympathy with complaints, Wang added.
