The construction of the much-awaited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, the first under-river tunnel in South Asia, is nearing completion. The length of the tunnel will be 3.4 kilometers, with an approach road of 5.35 kilometers alongside a 727-meter bridge linking the main city, port and the western side of the Karnaphuli River with its eastern side.
