Romania on Monday said it "categorically denies" Russian drones fell on its soil, rejecting a claim by Kyiv that they detonated there overnight during a strike on the Ukrainian port city of Izmail.

The Romanian Defense Ministry said it had been monitoring "in real time the situation caused by the Russian drone attacks" and "categorically denies ... Russian drones fell on the national territory of Romania."

The denial came after Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oleg Nikolenko claimed earlier that Russian drones fell and detonated on Romanian territory on Monday during an overnight attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube River as he urged Western partners to speed up supplies of air defense systems to Ukraine.
