Chinese Premier Li Qiang said China firmly supports ASEAN's central position in regional cooperation and its greater role in international affairs upon his arrival in Indonesian capital Jakarta on Tuesday for leaders' meetings on East Asia cooperation and an official visit to Indonesia.
He will attend the 26th China-ASEAN Summit, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit during his visit.
Noting that the visit is his first to an Asian country as premier, Li said that China stands ready to have in-depth exchanges of views with all parties on major issues of regional cooperation, strengthening solidarity and coordination, sharing development opportunities, working together to meet challenges, and promoting East Asia to continuously serve as an important engine for global development.
Li pointed out that in recent years, China-Indonesia relations have developed rapidly, setting an example of developing working together and cooperating towards joint development.
China is ready to work with Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, build a closer China-Indonesia community with a shared future, promote integrated and mutually reinforcing modernization through high-level and all-round strategic cooperation, and inject more stability and new momentum into international and regional cooperation, Li added.
During the visit, Li will also hold talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and attend events including the Indonesia Sustainability Forum 2023.
