U.S. democracy is in a fragile state and in disarray over deep divisions. That's the warning from 13 U.S. presidential libraries, representing leaders from Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression to Barack Obama. Josef Gregory Mahoney, a professor of politics and international relations at East China Normal University, says the U.S. has become a less free society and a less stable and reliable democracy.
