China ensure mixed doubles gold at Asian Table Tennis Championships

Team China ensured a one-two finish in the mixed doubles event at the 2023 Asian Table Tennis Championships as well as a berth at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.

The all-Chinese final will take place on Saturday between Lin Gaoyuan and Wang Yidi, who knocked out Lin Yun-ju and Chen Szu-yu of Chinese Taipei 5-11, 11-6, 13-15, 11-9, 11-9, and Liang Jingkun and Qian Tianyi, who eliminated local pair Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin 11-7, 11-9, 11-2.

Meanwhile, multiple Chinese paddlers advanced in the singles events and remaining doubles events. 

Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun, Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan reached the men's singles last 16, and Sun Yingsha, Chen Xingtong, Wang Yidi, Wang Manyu and Chen Meng advanced in the women's singles. Four Chinese pairs reached the men's and women's quarterfinals.

The tournament hands out a total of three tickets to Paris 2024, which were all taken by China, including the men's and women's team events, and the mixed doubles.
