At the invitation of the government of the Russian Federation, Zhang Guoqing, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, will attend the eighth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 10-12, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

The ministry's spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

Mao said that China looks forward to working with the Russian side through this visit to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation in Northeast China and the Russian Far East, and jointly promote regional development.

The EEF is an important platform for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to build consensus on cooperation and seek common development.

Chinese President Xi Jinping was invited to attend the forum and delivered important speeches in 2018 and 2021 respectively, elaborating on China's initiatives to develop China-Russia relations, participate in the development of the Far East, and push forward regional cooperation.
