Four Chinese women into semis at Asian Table Tennis Championships

Team China secured the women's singles title at the 2023 Asian Table Tennis Championships in South Korea on Friday after they took up all spots in the semifinals.

World No. 1 Sun Yingsha will face Chen Xingtong, and Wang Manyu will play against Wang Yidi.

Wang Manyu eliminated China's Olympic champion Chen Meng, while the other semifinalists, Sun, Wang and Chen downed Japan's Hayata Hina and Ito Mima, and Thailand's Orawan Paranang, respectively.

Meanwhile, China's Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun and Ma Long booked their spots in the men's singles semifinals.

In men's doubles, Ma Long and Wang Chuqin overcame Wong Chun Ting and Ho Kwan Kit of Hong Kong, China 8-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-3 to set up a semifinal clash with local pair Jang Woo-jin and Lim Jong-hoon. Fan Zhendong and Lin Gaoyuan dispatched Indian pair Thakkar Manav Vikash and Shah Manush Utpalbhai in straight sets 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 to face off another South Korean duo, An Jae-hyun and Park Gang-hyeon.

In the women's doubles, Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi overcame Japanese duo Miu Hirano and Miwa Harimoto 11-5, 12-10, 11-5. Wang Manyu and Chen Meng outclassed Indian pair Ayhika Mukherjee and Sutirtha Mukherjee 11-5, 13-11, 12-10.

Chinese paddlers have won the men's and women's team titles, and set up an all-Chinese mixed doubles final, which guaranteed China three Olympic berths in Paris next year.
