The ongoing sixth Silk Road International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang has showcased the desert oasis city's history of integrating multiple civilizations. One of the highlights is Turkmenistan as the guest of honor, which has its own pavilion promoting the tourism, traditional arts and crafts, and indigenous folk cultures of this Central Asian nation.

Turkmenistan's National Museum has played a leading role in organizing exhibition events to present the country's culture and art.
Meretgeldy Charyev, director of the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan, pointed out that cooperation between museums in China and Turkmenistan is essential.
"I've also realized many similarities between our two cultures. For instance, we also have murals. And we're also planning to strengthen our cooperation with China in the protection of murals," said the director.
Charyev added that Turkmenistan brought many kinds of cultural goods to share with expo visitors, such as traditional clothing, rugs, instruments, and cultural crafts.

Visitors also shared their feelings about experiencing the Turkmenistan exhibition.
"I've heard of Turkmenistan culture on TV before, like they have the famous Akhal-Teke horses. Stepping into their pavilion, I really like the color palette, the color red. It's so pretty," said a young visitor.
An old image restorer shared his view after a close observation at the Turkmenistan exhibition pavilion. "I'm particularly interested in old images of Silk Road countries, dating between the 1850s and 1880s to be precise. Most of the film is black and white, and if we want to restore it to colored video, we can refer to the colors of the clothes on display here. We can also share the different Silk Road cultures from the past with more young people today, which is quite meaningful.”
