China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has been lashed by record-breaking rainfall brought by Typhoon Haikui since the night of September 7.

Local authorities issued a black rainstorm and mudslide warning on the same night, meaning that more than 70 mm/h of rainfall were or will be recorded in most parts of Hong Kong, and the situation may continue.

With the highest-level alert still in force on September 8, the city has endured its longest black rainstorm warning.
