Jury of first Golden Panda Awards announced

The final jury for the first Golden Panda Award was announced today.

Zhang Yimou, the esteemed director who has won prestigious accolades such as Venice's Golden Lion and Berlin's Golden Bear, two of the highest honors in the global film industry, will be the jury president for the awards, which will be presented biennially.

Georges Schwizgebel, Swiss animation film director, is the chairman of the animation category.

The Golden Panda Awards are awarded in four categories: film, TV drama, documentary and animation. Each category has five to seven judges, and one of them is the chairman of the category.

Stanley Tong, a veteran director, screenwriter and producer in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is the chairman of the film category.

Zheng Xiaolong, a well-known screenwriter and director, is the chairman of the TV drama category.

Two-time Oscar-winning director Malcolm Clarke is the chairman of the documentary category and Georges Schwizgebel, a Swiss animation film director, is the chairman of the animation category.

The first edition of the Golden Panda Awards, hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Sichuan provincial government, is scheduled to be held in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, on September 19 and 20.
