Search and rescue efforts are ongoing in Morocco after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit the North African country on Friday at a depth of 18.5 kilometers. The country's Interior Ministry on Saturday updated the death toll to more than 2,000, with thousands more injured and in serious condition. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the town of Ighil in Al Haouz Province, some 70 km southwest of Marrakesh. The country has declared a three-day period of national mourning.
