In accordance with the nation's four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China on Monday raised its flooding alert to orange, the second-highest level.

The Guangxi hydrology center reports that, since Saturday, rainstorms brought on by the remnants of Typhoon Haikui, the 11th typhoon of this year, have pounded several cities in Guangxi, including Yulin, Beihai, and Qinzhou.

It added that the water levels of numerous rivers had risen by two-to-six meters as a result of torrential rainfall, and that 19 hydrology stations in 15 rivers had recorded water levels above alert limits.

According to local meteorological experts, more rainstorms are expected to hit Guangxi's southern and coastal districts in the ensuing days, lasting through Wednesday and bringing with them precipitation ranging from 80 mm to 150 mm. In certain areas, the greatest amount of precipitation is expected to exceed 400 mm.
