An exhibition featuring established traditional Chinese painting artist Liu Wanming is currently underway at the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Titled "Intricate Brushstrokes," the show offers a comprehensive overview of Liu's artistic style and career.

The exhibition showcases over 300 artworks created by Liu Wanming, encompassing various themes and mediums such as flower-and-birds, figures, landscapes, calligraphy and sketches. It also incorporates digital printmaking works.

At the opening ceremony on September 8, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts awarded Liu Wanming with a certificate of Distinguished Professorship. His painting "Autumn Pond Dwelling" was also included in the permanent collection of the academy. 

Liu Wanming, who is the Deputy Director of the National Museum of China, said: "'Intricate Brushstrokes' is not just a painting technique, but also an academic exploration of Chinese painting. It represents a deeper level of artistic concept in Chinese painting creation."

Liu is widely recognized as a scholarly painter who delves into the study of ancient Chinese painting theory. He has built a solid foundation based on Song and Yuan dynasty art traditions. Not only an avid observer of life, Liu ponders deeply over a myriad of subtleties to form his own insight. As a versatile artist, he combines various techniques and has created a unique style known for its intricate brushstrokes. His artworks reflect a profound understanding of Chinese culture and his artistic pursuit of spiritual values. 

President of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Fan Bo commented, "[Liu] brought so many of his works to engage in academic dialogues and exchanges with the students. He also made sincere efforts in teaching to fulfill his role as a visiting professor. The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts is very grateful to Mr. Liu Wanming for bringing so many great works and for holding this exhibition."

Co-hosted by the China Artists Association, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and the Guangdong Artists Association, the exhibition runs until September 15. During this time, Liu Wanming will also teach demonstration lessons that will give participants an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the artistic world of intricate brushstrokes.
