The new venue for climbing competitions at the upcoming 19th Asian Games resembles a silkworm cocoon, in tribute to China's water town silk industry.
Built on the site of an abandoned mine, the Shaoxing Keqiao Yangshan Sport Climbing Center in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, a city southeast of Hangzhou, spans 10,000 square meters and has a seating capacity of 2,100 spectators.
The nearby Yangshan Stone Buddha Scenic Area will give athletes and spectators an opportunity to explore pristine garden scenery between attending competitions.
