As the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative approaches, a launch ceremony of the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities was held in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province on September 1, 2023.
Its goal was to construct a bridge for member cities to deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in the field of tourism. A total of 58 cities from 26 countries have become part of the alliance, and more than 350 people, including government officials, China-based diplomats, experts and industry leaders from various countries, attended the event.
Among them, CGTN had the chance to talk to Suleiman Farajat, mayor of Jordan's Petra region. He told us about his expectations for the tourism alliance, how he believes it will boost culture and tourism cooperation among Belt and Road countries, and the one word he uses to describe his beautiful, historical city.
