Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, who's on a state visit to China, has just arrived in Beijing. Reporter Lu Sirui has more.
LU SIRUI Beijing "At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro Moros is paying a state visit to China from September 8 to 14.
"President Maduro is leading a senior delegation that includes his Vice-President, and preparing for the 'next phase of high-level exchanges' with China.
"Prior to his arrival in Beijing, he has visited Shenzhen and Shanghai.
"Experts say this shows that Venezuela is looking beyond politics and strategic matters, and linking its future economic development more closely with China.
"Cooperation in the energy and aerospace sectors are the highlights of this visit.
"The two have also signed earlier a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting broader cooperation in the handling and analysis of satellite images.
"Overall, the visit underscores Venezuela's efforts to diversify its international partnerships."
