'My Dream': African teenagers paint about continent's future

The "My Dream" Painting Competition for African Teenagers, hosted by the Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the China Manned Space Agency, has announced its winners. Out of more than 2,000 entries received from 42 African countries, ten individuals were awarded the first prize, 15 received the second prize and 25 were honored with the third prize.

Starting September 7, CGTN has been introducing a series of African young artists' works chosen out of over 2,000 entries. Today, we'll present you with the paintings themed on the future vision of Africa.

1."Emergence" by Mbeukam Magwa Alain from Cameroon. This painting shows Cameroon's traditional huts and an artisanal fishing scene, trying to remind people about their roots. It also presents us with an industrializing Cameroon. All these mark the culmination of a dream, that is Cameroon is "emerging".

2. "Smart Transport" by Bienvenu from Chad (third prize). This young artist describes the future scene of a city with an advanced traffic management system. Modern technologies such as cloud computing, wireless communication and location-based services in our transportation systems are changing our future lives.

3. "Towards a New Horizon" by Bayokolak Dieudonne Patience from Cameroon. This oil painting shows a stylized character placed in the center, with its upper limbs oriented towards the sky, symbolizing the meaning of surpassing oneself in the conquest of new environments.

4. "Hope and future" by Alda Regina Bonifácio Manguele from Mozambique (third prize). With bright colors and a comic style, this colored pencil drawing is filled with joy.

5. "All Africans are united and working together" by Asa King Zvihari from Zimbabwe (third prize). Men and women in colorful clothes are jointly making a big puzzle of an African map. This artist wants to convey the message that only unification can make a better tomorrow.
