China Space Station exhibits selected African teenagers' paintings to inspire space dreams

The Shenzhou-16 crew at the China Space Station has unveiled 10 selected paintings drawn by young African artists to inspire youth worldwide for space exploration.

An award ceremony for a painting competition themed "My Dream" was held on Wednesday, which received over 2,000 paintings from 42 African countries. The winning artists have been invited to Beijing, China, to attend the event.

This is part of a series of events held by the China Manned Space Agency and the Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

In the competition, 10 first prizes, 15 second prizes and 25 third prizes have been awarded to the young artists. The 10 first prize-winning paintings were taken by the Shenzhou-16 crew in May.

Chinese astronaut Chen Dong, a Shenzhou-11 crewmate and commander of the Shenzhou-14 mission, attended the event to share his space experience with African teenagers from eight venues in Africa via video chat.
