The port of Gwadar is the crown jewel in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Currently, it is divided into two parts: the port and a free trade area. Many Chinese-backed projects in the region are seen to benefit the local population, from an all-girl middle school to a new seawater desalination project.
