In the 1960s, the first barrel of crude oil in the United Arab Emirates was produced at the Bab Oil Field, located 160 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi. Today, oil accounts for 60 percent of Abu Dhabi's GDP, driving the UAE's economic growth. To achieve the goal of producing 5 million barrels of crude oil per day by 2025, the UAE's state-owned oil giant, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ANDOC), worked with China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, Ltd.
