18th World Water Congress calls for efficient use of water
The 18th World Water Congress issued the Beijing Declaration at the closing ceremony on Friday, calling for the efficient use and protection of water resources, the sharing of water management experience, and the collaborative tackling of water-related challenges.
To this end, the congress highlighted national policies and planning, technological innovation, information sharing, investment and public participation.
Protecting and reasonably utilizing water resources is a common obligation and right that all countries and all inhabitants of the earth should fulfill. Everyone, every organization, every enterprise, and every country should strive to achieve water conservation, rational development, and efficient utilization within their capabilities, according to the congress.
The World Water Congress is one of the largest events of its kind connecting water policymakers, researchers and policy practitioners globally. This is the first time that China has hosted the congress. The theme of the five-day event this year is "Water for All: Harmony between Humans and Nature."
