FIFA, football's international governing body, announced on Thursday the nominees for 2023's best FIFA football awards, with voting now open to fans until October 6.

Votes can be cast in seven categories, including best women's player, best men's player, best women's coach, best men's coach, best women's goalkeeper, best men's goalkeeper and the FIFA fan award.

World Cup finalists Spain and England each have four players on the 16-person shortlist of best women's player. Sarina Wiegman, who led the Lionesses to a second-place finish, is up for the women's coaching award.

On the men's side, English Premier League's treble-winning squad Manchester City have six players featured in the 12-person shortlist of best men's player, while City manager Pep Guardiola is nominated for best men's coach.

Meanwhile, mega stars including Argentina's Lionel Messi and France's Kylian Mbappe, who contested each other in the Men's World Cup final last year, are also on the list.

World Cup winner Messi and Spain's Alexia Putellas are the current holders of the men's and women's top player awards.

The women's goalkeeper award has seven candidates and the corresponding men's category has five.
