"Jojo Rabbit," a comedy-drama film written and directed by Taika Waititi, has taken the lead at the first Golden Panda Awards with four nominations.

Competing in the categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score, the movie was adapted from Christine Leunens's 2008 book "Caging Skies," and has a fascist story background.

It tells the story of a ten-year-old German boy, Johannes "Jojo" Betzler, in the Hitler Youth, whose hero and imaginary friend is the Nazi leader. He is later shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.

Among the Golden Panda Awards nominations, a significant proportion of the films promote the ideals of peace and advocate for cultural exchange. A total of 29 films have won the nominations and with more than half of them overseas.

The Golden Panda Awards that will take place in Chengdu, Sichuan is set to be an international cultural awards program oriented to film and television works from around the world.

Using giant pandas as its cultural symbol, it aims to promote exchange and mutual learning among countries and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for humankind.

The results of the awards will be announced from September 19 to 20.
