South Koreans protest against Japan's 2nd radioactive water discharge
01:04

Protesters on Saturday gathered in Seoul to oppose Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean and call on the South Korean government to take action to halt a second round of disposal planned for later this month. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) dumped about 7,800 tonnes of radioactive water into the sea in the first phase of its release between August 24 and September 11. Ignoring the appeals of domestic fishermen, neighboring countries and worldwide environmental experts, Japan started releasing the Fukushima water into the ocean on August 24.
