Team China's Zhang Yiman finished second place in the women's singles at the BWF Hong Kong Open on Sunday, followed by a mixed doubles gold medal from teammates Guo Xinwa and Wei Yaxin as they downed Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of China's Hong Kong 2-0.
Zhang fell short in the final against world No.2 Akane Yamaguchi of Team Japan 18-21, 15-21, as the latter delivered a relatively more stable performance than Zhang on crucial points.

Yamaguchi maintains a 4-0 head-to-head against Zhang, after clinching her fifth title of the season out of eight entries into the finals.
Guo and Wei later downed Tang and Tse 21-13, 21-19, who won the bronze medal at the BWF World Tour finals in 2021.
Despite being exposed to coordination problems in the final, Guo and Wei stood out among the young squad of Team China without its franchise players in this tournament, as the rest of the team crashed out of the men's singles first round, and were halted in the round of 16 and quarterfinals in the men's and women's doubles events.
Tang and Tse, meanwhile, are aiming to clinch a medal at the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Indonesian pair Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti beat Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan of Malaysia in the women's doubles final. Later in Sunday, Jonatan Christie of Indonesia beat Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 2-1 to win the men's singles final, followed by the men's doubles final between Danish duo Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen and Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin.
