The Chinese Embassy in Japan said on Monday that China has not been invited to participate in analysis and comparative testing of nuclear-contaminated water discharged from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The remarks were made in a response to media reports claiming that China has "refused" to join the international monitoring mechanism of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
"China has reiterated the need to establish a long-term and effective international monitoring arrangement with the full participation of neighboring countries and other stakeholders," the embassy added.
