China beat India 5-1 in their first game of the men's football event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Tuesday night.
China were in full control of the competition most of the time, but they didn't translate the advantage into a solid lead efficiently in the first half. Gao Tianyi scored first in the 16th minute for China to lead 1-0. The team then kept missing good opportunities, including a penalty kick by Zhu Chenjie in the 24th minute.
India grasped the chance in a rally during the stoppage time in the first half as Rahul K.P. scored a sensational goal to tie the score 1-1.
Chinese players came back in a better form in the second half while some Indian players seemed to be dealing with a lack of stamina. Dai Weijun, Tao Qianglong and Fang Hao scored another four goals for China to begin their Asian Games journey with a victory.
