Guiyang's landmark Jiaxiu Pavilion, which stands on a boulder in the Nanming River, has a history dating back more than 400 years. The three-story wooden pavilion attracted scholars and poets during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties to visit and leave plenty of stone engravings, calligraphy works, paintings and wood carvings. Nowadays, its famous night views attract throngs of tourists.
