Thousands of demoiselle cranes have gathered in Dalai Nur National Nature Reserve in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region while on their migration journey towards their wintering grounds in India.
The crane is known for its elegant appearance and its tenacity as the seasonal trip crosses Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest peak.
While all nine crane species in China are under state protection, the demoiselle cranes are under second-class state protection.
