The concept of green, low-carbon and sustainability is at core of the Hangzhou Asian Games and has been integrated across all aspects of the games, including in one of the co-host cities, Huzhou, in the north part of east China's Zhejiang Province.

The Games' 3x3 basketball program will be held at a carbon neutral arena built by the Fengqi Lake in Deqing County of Huzhou. The city is famous for the Mogan Mountain scenic area, where the United Nation's Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Center is located.

A two-floor steel structured landmark is seamlessly blended by the lake side with geometrically shaped garden paths. But the arena itself is "greener" and more intelligent than it appears.

The main electrical room for the arena has been rebuilt digitally with multiple sensors so that the equipment in the room can be monitored remotely and ensure safe electricity usage.

The electricity provider also set up a system that tracks the electricity, gas, and heating usage of the arena and calculates their carbon emission. Meanwhile, green renewable energies such as solar and wind power from northwest China's Qinghai Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region are transferred to the area to offset carbon emissions.

In fact, the entire city of Huzhou has experienced a digital transformation for green transition. The city also launched an evaluation system that reviews its low-emission lifestyle which comes with an index each year. In 2023, Huzhou scored 94.2 in terms of having a low-carbon emission lifestyle, 3.9 points up from the previous year. The system was introduced three years ago.
