On September 19, a strong tornado classified as EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale (EF-Scale) struck Suqian City in China's Jiangsu Province, causing casualties and property damage in some areas.

The tornado occurred during commuting hours and caused five deaths and four serious injuries due to the suddenness of its onslaught. An EF2 tornado is said to have wind speeds of between 178 and 217 kilometers per hour.
