Wang Yi stresses strengthening cooperation with Russia and Mongolia

Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stressed strengthening cooperation with Russia and Mongolia during a high-level security affairs consultation with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and Secretary of the Mongolian National Security Council Jadamba Enkhbayar in Moscow on Tuesday.

Calling Russia and Mongolia friendly neighbors who share common stakes with China, Wang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, urged the three countries to strengthen trilateral cooperation under new conditions in order to build consensus on regional development.

China is willing to work with Russia and Mongolia to jointly explore effective ways to deepen cooperation, jointly promote regional prosperity and stability, and share the results of regional development, Wang said.

Specifically, Wang mentioned the development of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor to bring more benefits to the people of the three countries.

The Chinese diplomat also called on the trio to deepen political mutual trust.

Patrushev, for his part, stressed the importance of upholding multilateralism and a fair and just international order. Enkhbayar expressed Mongolia's will to continue deepening political mutual trust with China and Russia and to make the trilateral cooperation an example for regional development.

The three diplomats also agreed on consolidating cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative to promote win-win cooperation.
