Located in east China's Shandong Province, Qufu is well known as the birthplace of Confucius, and is regarded as a must-see for both domestic and overseas visitors looking to commemorate the ancient Chinese sage on a tour of traditional Chinese cultural sites. The ensemble of famous monuments located in Qufu, incorporating the Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
