China's first large-scale commercial shale gas field has produced over 60 billion cubic meters shale gas since its launch in 2012, according to China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., China's largest oil refiner.
The Fuling shale gas field spreads over several counties in Chongqing, the largest shale gas field in the world outside of North America. It is also the sixth largest natural gas field in China.
By far, the field has accumulated proven reserves of 900 billion cubic meters shale gas with daily production of 23 million cubic meters.
The shale gas it produced by far has accounted for more than half of the total accumulated shale gas production in China. The field has provided supplies for over 70 cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt over the years.
