The curtain has risen on the 16th Beijing Fringe Festival in the Chinese capital. Running from September to December, the festival will showcase the latest theater productions by 24 young stage directors from China, France, Poland and Georgia. It will also offer activities including seminars, creative workshops and script recitals.

First held in 2008, more than 500 plays have been staged at the Beijing Fringe Festival, where more than 2,500 young theater workers have participated in its productions. Many young directors with creative talent and international vision have emerged from the festival. It has now grown into one of Asia’s most influential theater events where it has become a bridge between Chinese culture and rest of the world.
