Gongchen Bridge is the starting point of the southern section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. As the northern gate of Hangzhou, a transportation hub in ancient times from Grand Canal to Hangzhou, the tall arched stone bridge was also an ancient spot to welcome the emperor in ancient China.
