Trade in local currencies to help China-Indonesia cooperation: Bank Indonesia governor
02:35

Economic and trade relations between China and Indonesia have become increasingly close. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 10 consecutive years and ranked as Indonesia's top three sources of foreign investment for seven consecutive years. Perry Warjiyo, the governor of Bank Indonesia, says in an interview with CGTN's Tian Wei that relations between China and Indonesia are not only reflected in the diplomacy of the heads of state but also in the field of trade and investment. Close ties are also seen in interactions between Chinese and Indonesians. At the same time, he points out that trade in local currencies will step up China-Indonesia cooperation. Currently, 16 Indonesian banks and a major Chinese bank are cooperating to scale up the use of local currencies.
