China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) agreed on Tuesday to hold a foreign ministers' meeting in the coming months, as a meeting of the three countries' senior officials was held in Seoul.
The three neighbors also reached agreement to maintain communication on promoting a leaders' meeting at an early and convenient time for them, Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong attended the meeting with Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the ROK Chung Byung-won and Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Funakoshi Takehiro. Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat Lee Hee-sup was present.
During the meeting, the three parties conducted in-depth discussions on promoting the steady resumption of China-Japan-ROK cooperation.
They agreed that carrying out trilateral cooperation serves the common interest of the three countries.
The three countries, they believe, should work together to strengthen practical cooperation in areas such as people-to-people and cultural exchanges, economy and trade, scientific and technological innovation, sustainable development, and public health, and achieve new progress in trilateral cooperation, so as to make new contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Before the meeting, ROK Foreign Minister Park Jin held a collective meeting with the representatives of the three countries attending the China-Japan-ROK senior officials' meeting.
