China's first tower-based multi-sphere observation platform was completed, marking a significant step forward for the country's marine scientific monitoring. Multi-sphere observation refers to data collection across various layers of the Earth's atmosphere and ocean. The platform, built in Qingdao, Shandong Province, consists of an observation tower and several modules that weigh more than 4,500 tonnes together. Standing about 103 meters above sea level, the tower is China's highest ocean observation facility. Now that construction is complete, scientists plan to equip the platform with at least 66 types of observation equipment, making it one of the world's most advanced towers of its kind. Technicians said the observation platform would be able to realize comprehensive stereoscopic observation of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere in real-time.
