More than 100 people were killed and 200 injured in a fire at a wedding party in Hamdaniya district in Iraq's Nineveh province on Wednesday. Charred metal and debris could be seen in the blaze's aftermath as people walked through the fire scene. Initial reports by the Kurdish television news channel Rudaw suggested fireworks at the venue may have sparked the fire. Civil defense officials quoted by the Iraqi News Agency described the wedding hall's exterior as being decorated with highly flammable cladding that is illegal in the country.
