"Within the four seas, all men are brothers." This saying comes from "The Analects," a collection of the philosopher's sayings that date back more than 2,000 years ago, which forms an integral part of Confucianism.
"Within the four seas" means the entire world. The word "brother" is not limited to family, and can be extended to ethnic and state relations. Many officials and dignitaries from around the world have quoted this philosophical passage to call for unity and to respect and help each other like brothers.
