There is no more perfect moment than when the supermoon shows up on a clear and crisp autumn night, just in time for the Chinese people to gather around and appreciate a full moon at Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday.
A supermoon appears larger than usual in the night sky as it is both full and at its closest point to Earth. The moon will be 5 percent bigger and 13 percent brighter than the average full moon of 2023.
The supermoon on Friday night will be the third closest moon to Earth this year. It is also the last of the four supermoons this year.

The fullest time will be 5:58 p.m. in China, according to the Purple Mountain Observatory under Chinese Academy of Sciences. The weather conditions for watching the moon are good in most of northwest China and north China. The observatory also suggested the best picture time could be the moment when the moon just rises above the horizon, when it is bigger and silhouetted by buildings on the horizon.
The September supermoon is known as the "Harvest Moon" as it shows up when the autumn begins. Before electricity, the farmers counted on the moon's light to harvest their crops into the night.
