Decades of economic growth in China have enabled the country to make strides in increasing food standards and have generated a new set of demographic demands.
Green Dudu, a small, family-owned farm located in Shunyi District, Beijing, raises 20,000 high-quality Beijing Oils, a traditional local hen breed, taking care of their eggs through forest planting and grass farming methods.
The chickens at Green Dudu live in barns, with indoor leaven allowing them to bid farewell to their unpleasant living environment.
During the day, these contented birds roam the pastures and return to their respective homes when the sun goes down. At night, flocks of birds perch in the barn.
"Increasing numbers of consumers have recognized that animals raised in a high-welfare environment are of superior quality and free of antibiotics. Both producers and our market understand this," said Li Zhe, the farm's manager.
