It is customary in China to admire the charm of lanterns during Mid-Autumn Festival to celebrate reunions.
During this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week, the "Chinese Lantern City" of Zigong hosted a large-scale themed lantern show attracting over ten thousand visitors to come and marvel at the spectacles.
The technology-infused installations made the night scene seem as bright as it were in the daylight, providing visitors with immersive visual experiences.
Many of the lanterns are inspired by ancient Chinese poetry and mythological legends, blending cultural symbols with digital technologies like naked-eye 3D and augmented reality enhancements.
The lantern show will continue till October 22, 2023.
