In the deep mountains along the middle and lower reaches of the Dulong River live generations of Dulong people and capped langurs. Local people grow tsaoko, a fruit that is a raw material for seasonings, in the mountains. However, the foods the langurs like are scattered in the tsaoko fields, hampering their quick quest for food. So the local people came up with an idea to make use of the forest underbrush and avoid areas active with the langurs, both to boost the local economy and to protect the biodiversity.
About Journeys in Nature: Timeless Valley Series
Dulongjiang, known as the "last uncharted land in Yunnan," is a deep valley on China's southwestern border between the Hengduan Mountains and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The place was once shrouded in mystery, until a highway connecting the valley to the outside world was fully opened in 2014. In this series, CGTN Nature takes you on a ride to unveil the incredible fauna, flora, and the minority Dulong people who call this place home!
