Inspired by silk, one of the famous specialty products of Hangzhou, the design of the core graphics depicts the graceful yet flexible, fine yet smooth, gentle yet vibrant, traits of silk unfurling in the air, as a way to highlight Hangzhou's history and culture. The design is also an ideal way to showcase the diverse array of Asian sports culture at the event.
Themed as a "harmony of colors," the color palettes for the 19th Asian Games is dominated by rainbow purple, while being complemented by glowing red, mist white, Laurus yellow, glimmering blue, and lake-and-mountain green. Rainbow purple is the dominant color of the "Surging Tides" emblem of the 19th Asian Games.
Glowing red is inspired by transient twilights, mist white by light ink washes, Laurus yellow by laurel flowers and their fragrance, shimmering blue by clear skies and ripples of water, and lake-and-mountain green by lush mountains and nature. All these colors help depict the dynamism of nature and the city itself.
The designs are applied to city venues, TV broadcasts, cultural activities, urban landscapes, vehicles, uniforms, tickets, official merchandise and so on.
In addition, these core graphics and color palettes echo the visual signage of the emblem, mascots, slogans and sports symbols. They all encapsulate the spirit of the Asian Games, China's rich history and culture, and offer good wishes to humanity.
