One of the biggest stories from the recent G20 summit is the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The massive rail and ports deal is presented as a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. While skipping the East Asia summit, U.S. President Joe Biden lost no time to visit Vietnam, where the two countries upgraded their bilateral relations to a new level. What are the economic and geopolitical implications of the rail and shipping corridor? How have Biden’s latest moves reflected his Asia strategy? Will Vietnam become a chess piece in U.S. game against China? To discuss these issues and more, we are joined by Prof. John Gong from the University of International Business & Economics; Prof. Anna Rosario Malindog-Uy, Senior Research Fellow of the Global Governance Institution; and Hussein Askary, Vice Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden.
